address features a selection of work that spanned two years of researching and studying Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. Ideas stemmed from the concepts of Book as Body, Censorship and Love. Other related works are Garment for Us, Temporary Monumoments and this thing.... The mural is in a code language called Chromatext.
The installation includes an audio piece comprised of field recordings in my house, and letter by letter piano transliteration of text from Fahrenheit 451.
samples: Soundtrack for the film Fahrenheit 451 by Bernhard Hermann. The piano sounds in the piece are a text transliterated into piano notes, which are played using a program on the computer keyboard. These piano notes (dots) were painted on the wall inside the "fort." The mural reads: We need not to be let alone We need not to be let alone We need not to be let alone Stuff your eyes with wonder Telling detail Fresh detail Telling detail Fresh detail There must be something in books something that you can’t imagine to make a woman stay in a burning house there must be something there They show the pores in the face of life You don’t stay for nothing |
