More Information :
This film is part of a series based upon metaphorical, fictitious conversations that take place between two actual musicians. By eliminating some information and maintaining others, the work reiterates the intangible blur that occurs in each recollection of a conversation or elusive memories . . . despite containment.
A polite conversation is between Dave Brubeck (Take Five) and Claude Debussy (Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun) and is presented in an audio mash-up of the two compositions. Portions of lyrics for Take Five and excerpted text from The Afternoon of a Faun by Stephane Mallarme were transliterated into a color code alphabet, Chromatext.
